How Signal Works
Chrome User Experience Report
Signal uses CrUX, Google's dataset of real performance metrics from Chrome users. This is the same data behind PageSpeed Insights and Search Console's Core Web Vitals report. Unlike Lighthouse lab tests, CrUX reflects actual user experience.
What We Measure
We report the p75 (75th percentile) — the value 75% of page loads perform better than. Google uses this for CWV assessment. We track LCP, INP, CLS, FCP, and TTFB. For LCP we decompose into TTFB, Load Delay, Load Duration, and Render Delay.
Industry Benchmarks
We curate leading sites per industry and region. Enter your domain and Signal detects your TLD to show local competitors. Industry medians are computed from latest p75 values across all leaders in your region.
Distributions
Beyond p75, we show what percentage of visits are "good", "needs improvement", and "poor". A site can pass on p75 while 15% of users still experience poor performance. The distribution bar reveals this hidden tail.
