Sites with 1 to 2 layout shifts layout shift count have a good CLS most often: 87%, against 86% of all Shopify sites. Sites with 6+ layout shifts shift count have it least often, at 66%.

Two in three Shopify sites uses layout shift count, and 64% of those use 1 to 2 layout shifts.

On jQuery, 42% of sites use 1 to 2 layout shifts layout shift count, and 80% of jQuery sites have a good CLS, against 86% of all sites. On Vue, 40% of sites use 1 to 2 layout shifts, and 80% of Vue sites have a good CLS.

Does the framework explain the layout shift count difference?

On jQuery, 84% of sites with 1 to 2 layout shifts layout shift count have a good CLS, against 88% of jQuery sites with 0 layout shifts. Within jQuery, sites with 1 to 2 layout shifts and 0 layout shifts have a good CLS about equally often. On Vue, 83% of sites with 1 to 2 layout shifts layout shift count have a good CLS, against 90% of Vue sites with 0 layout shifts. Within Vue, sites with 1 to 2 layout shifts and 0 layout shifts have a good CLS about equally often.

How repeated layout shifts erode visual stability in the field

Each unexpected layout frame during page load increments the shift count. Across 2,759 sites (33.5%) with 0 lab shifts, 93% pass field CLS, and across 3,494 sites (42.4%) with 1 to 2 shifts, 87% pass field CLS. When a page triggers 3 to 5 shifts (16.0%), good field CLS drops to 80%, and at 6 or more shifts (8.2%, 675 sites) good field CLS falls to 66%.
